It would be hard to imagine a Bridge City today that had never had a Steve Worster. It is an often stated and a historic fact, “Steve Worster put Bridge City on the map.”
"I've had difficulty with this all week," said a humble Steve Worster, Saturday night at the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce banquet as he accepted the 2009 50th Anniversary Citizen of the Year" award. Worster is credited by many for putting Bridge City on the map.
St. Mary Catholic School PreK3 and PreK4 had their annual PreK Mardi Gras Parade. The students, with their teachers (Mrs. Harmon, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Bandiero) and family members, had a great time.
Former owner of Yocum’s Photography, Ken Thayer, 58, passed away this morning while in the hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
It is being planned as a banquet like no other in the 50 years since the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1959. For this year’s banquet the chamber selected the largest facility in town, appropriately Bridge City High School.
“What the hell was that?”

Authorities are trying to locate Brandy Seelye, last seen in Orange Jan. 16. Seelye is 25 and attended Parkview School in Sulphur, La.

Orange County has long had a strong support for the arts, which was recognized Sunday as several of the handcrafted, one-of-a-kind sculpted clay hearts came home to “the OC.”
Rickey Land will be honored for outstanding service as the 2009 Ambassador of the Year for the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce, at this year’s chamber banquet Feb. 20 at Bridge City High School. Start time is 6 p.m. The chamber will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Sarah Briggs of Capital One Bank was recently named by the Bridge
City Chamber of Commerce as Employee of the Month.
Briggs has
been employeed with Capital One for 12 years.
