James C. Blankenship, 63, of Vidor died Friday, June 4, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Vidor, he was a self-employed carpenter. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam.

James was preceded in death by his son, James C. Blankenship Jr.; father, Eugene Clifton Blankenship; brothers, Jessie Harold Blankenship, Jerry Eugene Blankenship and Samuel Ray Blankenship.

He is survived by his son, James Clifton Blankenship; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Bland; mother, Lillie Blankenship, all of Vidor; brothers, William David Blankenship of Kingwood, Paul Daniel Blankenship of Vidor, Thomas Mark Blankenship of Kountze and Patrick Timothy Blankenship of Vidor; sisters, Lillie Jane Master of Lumberton, Mary Ella Hammock of Silsbee, Nancy Carol Vercher of Vidor, Rebecca Faith Markham and Sarah Rachel Jones, both of Lumberton; and four grandchildren.
