Bridge City Jimmie Ray “Bud” Sterns died Thursday night, Feb. 5, 2009 at his home in Bridge City. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 9, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Officiating was the Rev. Kenneth Lewis of Illinois.

The only son of D.Q. (Quincy) Sterns and Lessie Mayes Sterns, he was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Grayson, La. Mr. Sterns was a draftsman and owned J.R. Sterns Drafting Service in Bridge City.

He is preceded in death by his father, and two-step daughters.

Sterns is survived by his mother, Lessie Mayes Sterns of Bridge City; daughter, Chrystal Sterns of Bridge City and her mother, Carole Sterns of Groves; sisters, Billie Downey and Jan Leonard of Bridge City, Jo Voight of Nederland and Judy Escagne of Groves; numerous nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Justin Richoux and Lucky Bruce.

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Leonard, Justin Richoux, Allen Escagne, Jr., Allen “Bubba” Escagne III, Shawn Quincy Escagne, and Keith Downey.
