KVLU, member-supported public radio at Lamar University, started its spring fund drive on April 21 with the theme of “10 to Win.”  The new campaign asks listeners to add an additional $10 to their pledges of support in order to help KVLU reach its goal of $50,000 in 10 days.

The campaign will conclude Friday, May 1.

Melanie Dishman, station manager for advancement, hopes the success of “10 to Win” will help make up for falling short of the station’s fall 2008 campaign goal.

Because of the shortfall and the economy, several major programs are at risk of being cancelled.

The funds from this campaign will directly support programming from National Public Radio and American Public Media.

With strong public support, KVLU will be able to continue providing top-notch programming without changes, cuts or lay-offs, Dishman said.

KVLU, 91.3 FM, is a non-profit radio station licensed to Lamar University.
