Perry N. Harmon Jr., 62, of Orange, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, in Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Bailey Harris of Old First Orange Baptist. Cremation will be under direction of Claybar Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Perry was born on September 9, 1946, in Duty Ferry, La., son of Perry Newman and Hallie (Peveto) Harmon Sr. Perry was a bus driver for West Orange Stark ISD for many years following his retirement from Orangefield ISD. He was a lifelong member of Old First Orange Baptist Church. Perry was also a member of the Waffle House Breakfast Club at Interstate 10 and Texas 62.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, June; daughter and son-in-law, Leta and Byron Coffman of League City; two granddaughters Cara and Christa Coffman; son, Paul Harmon of League City; stepdaughter, Cathy Day of Orange; two stepgranddaughters Kacie Baker and husband Kevin of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Lindi Day of Orange; sister, Dottie Welch of Orange; niece, Brie Welch; nephew, Mike Welch and wife Sara; and other relatives in Louisiana, California, Texas and Washington State.
