Vidor Thurmon J. Johnson, 81, of Vidor died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct.14, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Thurmon was born in Pitkin, La., on June 26, 1928 to Charlie and Bessie Johnson. He was a longtime resident of Vidor and retired from Bethlehem Steel after 36 years as layout man. 

Thurmon is survived by his wife, Phyllis McCaskill Johnson; sons, Rodney Johnson of Dallas, Shirrell Johnson and his wife, Mary of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas and Barry Foster and his wife, Stephanie of Bridge City; brother, James Johnson of Vidor; sisters, Edna Casttello of Nederland, Robbie Ray Alan of Beaumont; and one granddaughter, Kayla Foster of Bridge City.
