Orange Jack Winston Brock, 78, of Orange, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at his residence after an illness. A memorial service to remember his life will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Faith United Methodist Church, 8608 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Kevin Kissel, pastor of the church. A gathering of family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5 - 8 p.m., Saturday at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. A private family committal will be held at a later date to place the remains in a niche in the mausoleum in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. 

Born on Sept. 1, 1931 in Hobbs, N.M. to parents, A. C. Brock and Cynthia Alice (Tusing) Brock, he lived in Orange for the past 49 years.

Jack worked as an operator and later as a maintenance supervisor for Phillips Petroleum Company at the carbon black plant in Echo.

He retired in 1986 with 35 years of service.

Jack was known among his family and friends for his humor.

He enjoyed teasing those he loved.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed golf, bowling and woodwork.

He was a competitive kind of guy.

Jack had been a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Orange (Now Faith United Methodist Church).

He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War.

His parents; infant sister, Geraldine Brock; and brother, Robert Brock, precede Jack in death.

Those who will cherish his memory most are his loving wife, Bobbie J. Needham Brock of Orange; daughters, Candace McKim and husband, Lynn of Molina, Fla. and Tammy Childress and husband, Lane of Port Arthur; sons, Sam Brock and wife, Karen of Knoxville, Tenn. and Tim Brock and wife, Sheila of Orange; sister Darlene Scifres of Alpine, Texas; brother, Bill Brock of Hobbs; his grandchildren, DaTanya, Sean, Derek, Chris, Danny, Marsha, Jeff, Sarah, Dustin, Ashton and Dalton; his great-grandchildren, Tristin, Ryan, Damen, Zane, Destiny, Electra, Peyton and one on the way soon. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive Jack.
