The City of Orange Fire Department responded to a house fire on the corner of Hemlock and 37th Street last night at approximately 7 p.m. First units on the scene reported heavy smoke showing from the single story frame home.

All occupants of the home escaped without injury according to Orange Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Ziller.

The fire was brought under control within five minutes of arrival. Fire crews remained on the scene for approximately two hours to insure all fire was extinguished and to investigate the cause of the fire. The cause has not been determined and the fire is still under investigation.

The local American Red Cross came to the aid of the family.

“The City of Orange Fire Department urges everyone to test their smoke detectors today,” said Ziller.
