Over 1,500 children and parents gathered with Orange County deputies at Claiborne West Park Friday for the 16th annual Cops and Kids Picnic, featuring food and hands-on demonstrations.

Guests enjoyed hot dogs, watermelons, popcorn and cotton candy; and visited with representatives from Southeast Texas Air Rescue, OC firefighters, Parks and Wilflife, Coast Guard and the Orange County SWAT team.

Children were able to ride in patrol vehicles as well as a Cowboy Church of Orange County covered wagon pulled by horses.

Other booths included representatives from the Salvation Army and Child Protective Services.
