Robert Michael “Lil’ Mike” Shaw, 57, of West Orange, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston. A memorial service to remember his life will be at noon, Saturday, Aug. 7 at the American Legion Hall, Post 33, 1320 Pennsylvania Avenue, Beaumont. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Born on March 13, 1953 in Port Arthur to Robert Melvin Shaw and Elizabeth Ann (Fox) Shaw, Mike was a longtime resident of West Orange. He had worked as a welder in the shipbuilding industry. After serving in the Marine Corps from 1971 until 1974, Lil’ Mike earned a college degree that lead to a career in teaching and shipbuilding. Mike was also a talented tattoo artist, owning his own shop and tattooing into the new century.

Lil’ Mike was a proud member of the Guardian Motorcycle Club and in April of 2010, he celebrated 30 years of membership. As a dedicated brother, he will be remembered as the purist definition of the word “biker.” He will forever be missed by his Guardian brothers and sisters and his many friends in the motorcycle community.

Lil’ Mike is survived by his wife, Marleen Shaw of West Orange; parents, Robert and Betty Shaw of Clute; sons, Joshuah and wife, DeeAnn of West Orange, Jamie Shaw and Tobie Shaw; his grandchildren, Jade, Jake, Zachery, Ian, Grayson, Conner; and his granddaughter whose arrival is expected on Aug. 18.
