John H. Campbell, Sr., 90, of Orange, passed away Sunday, Sept. 19 at Magnolia Manor in Groves. Services to remember his life will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Sept. 22 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange . The Rev. Brad Morgan of St. Paul ’s United Methodist Church in Bridge City, is officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Dorman Cemetery on Tulane Road in the McLewis community of Orange.

A gathering of family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the funeral home.

Born on August 17, 1920 in Orange , Texas to his parents, James “Jim” Campbell and Velma (Dorman) Campbell, he worked at the Levingston Shipbuilding Company in Orange and retired as a boilermaker in the construction industry from the Boilermakers Local #587.

Campbell was well respected by his co-workers, having had long relationships with them. He loved hunting, fishing, he always had a dog or two, loved watching and feeding the birds and going to the casino.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen Irving Campbell; his brother, Ira Lee Campbell and his sisters, Emma Campbell Breaux and Jewel “Judy” Campbell Regan.

Cambell is survived by his brothers, James Campbell of Sedalia, KY and Charles Lee Campbell of MS; his daughter, Beverly Campbell Brown (Kenneth); his sons, Shirlyn Ray Campbell, Gerald Wayne Campbell and John H. Campbell, Jr.

all of the McLewis community of Orange; his grandchildren, Barbara Benoit (Mark) of Waller, TX, Pamela Quast (Pete) of Orange, Sandy McLean (Edouard) of Reno, NV, Becky Starr (Charlie) of Grayson, KY, Kris Curry (Bubba), John H. Campbell, III (Dusty) of Port Neches, Jason Ochsner (Amy) of Vidor, TX and Ben Campbell of Lubbock.

Eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers are Pete Quast, Seth Quast, Mark Benoit, Ricky Benoit, Markus Benoit, John Campbell, III, Ben Campbell, Jason Ochsner, Aaron Welch, Raylan Marcantel and Bryan Starr.
