Bridge City Middle School’s Art Club has been quite busy the past few weeks. The group, which is sponsored by Lisa Walker, is getting their scarecrow ready for the 2nd annual Scarecrow Festival at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Orange.

BCMS’s Art Club participated last year, and began planning early for this year. The group works together to create their design over the course of several meetings, then the group begins to bring their design to life as they stuff and dress their scarecrow. Last year their entry was Micheal Jackson as “The Whiz,” and this year their theme is “The Invisible Scarecrow.”

Participating in this event is a great experience for the students to work together to accomplish a task. Another great aspect is being able to go and see their work displayed amongst all of the other submissions.

The students take great pride in sharing their work with their families and friends.

The second annual Scarecrow Festival at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is due to open on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and will last until Saturday, Nov. 27. The scarecrows will be put up for display on Sunday, Oct. 24 and on Monday, Oct. 25 in preparation for it’s opening.

The scarecrows will be located throughout the gardens.
