West Orange – Cove CISD will feature Ako Kambon, President of Visionary Leaders Institute, at Parent Appreciation Night on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Appointed by an Ohio gubernatorial commission, Kambon has served as executive administrator of The Ohio Commission on African American Males. He has also created a school for at-risk African American males.

Kambon is a strong advocate for the establishment of policies, programs, and procedures that engage parents in the education of their children.

“Parents must be hands-on participants in the educational process – active partners with teacher and administrators,” he said.

Kambon recently spoke at the No Child Left Behind Parent Involvement Conference in Corpus Christi.

“He is an absolutely phenomenal speaker,” Anitrea Goodwin, WOCCISD Executive Director of Federal Programs and Special Initiatives, said.

Parent Appreciation Night will also feature student performances from North Early Learning Center, West Orange – Stark Elementary, West Orange – Stark Middle School, and West Orange – Stark High School.

The event is free and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Carl Godwin Auditorium, 2020 Western Avenue.

It is presented by West Orange – Cove CISD Federal Programs.

All parents are encouraged to attend.
