BC Challenge League season opens

Kameron Lane, of Bridge City, runs through the gauntlet of Bridge City Cheerleaders with high fives all around. His parents, Angie and Richard Lane are real supportive of his efforts.

The Bridge City Challenge League is host to boys and girls from all age ranges with no age restriction. Amy Patterson and Erin James both work together on the field getting the ball rolling every Saturday.

They are eight games this season with the next game being this upcoming Saturday.

“We pride ourselves on the personal contact we have with those kids.” Patterson said. “I know all of these kids by name. We learn as much from them as they do from us. I don’t see any disabilities in these kids…they are just kids at the ballpark.”

Neither Patterson nor James has children in the Challenge League, but they do have kids in little league. “We hope that at the end of the day these kids are being kids.”

With more high fives and hugs – and a group photo – the first game of this year ended.

To get in contact with the two ladies of the Challenge League go to BCLL.org and their names are listed under “Challenge League” on the web site.
