Edwin Louis Purifoy, Sr., 85, of Bridge City, died Sunday, April 3, at Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be the Rev. Bobby Hoffpauir, pastor of Second Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home in Bridge City.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Rest Haven Memorial Park in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Born in Camden, Arkansas on May 23, 1925, Louis was the son of Polk Louis Purifoy, Sr. and Vera (Davidson) Purifoy. Louis served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was a retiree from Firestone and was known for his kindness and was well thought of at work and in the community.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Rae Purifoy, Louis is survived by his wife, Mildred Piggott Purifoy of Bridge City; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Faye Beth Purifoy of Mauriceville; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Lyndon Billings of Kendall, New York; son and daughter-in-law, P.J. “Rusty” and Holly Purifoy of League City.

Eight grandchildren, Todd Purifoy, Ben Purifoy, Melanie Claybar, Brad Huckabay, Matthew Purifoy, Amy Purifoy, Travis Billings and Molly Billings; eight great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Purifoy of Forney; and sister, Betty Beaver of El Dorado, Arkansas.

Louis is also survived by his five step-children, eigiht step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great great-grandchildren.
