Rosemary (Mary) Snider Brackett, 89, of Orange, died Friday, May 6, at The Meadows in Orange.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. David Berkheimer, pastor of Community Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Riverton, Kan. on Feb. 10, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Douglass) Snider. She was a former resident of Beaumont and a 1939 graduate of Beaumont High School.

Mary married Johnny M Brackett on March 13, 1946. They were married for 18 years until his death on Dec 12, 1964. Following Johnny’s death, Mary moved to Orange to be near her family.

She worked for several companies during her lifetime, including Weiner’s in Orange and she was a longtime member of Community Church in Orange.


In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Hudson and brother, Doug Snider.

She is survived by her nieces, Peggy Hudson Patin and her husband Jimmy of Vinton, La., Judy Hudson (Morris) Conlon and her husband John of Orange, Sally Hudson White and her husband Lynn of Palestine, Sandy Hudson McCormack and her husband Bud of Orange; nephew, Bobby Hudson and his wife Crystal of Orange; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be her great nephews, Mark Patin, Todd Patin, Garrett Patin, Steve Morris, Zac Stone, and Bud McCormack Jr.
