Police arrested three people on aggravated robbery charges Tuesday evening after they reportedly attacked a woman with a bat and stole her purse.

Officer James Roy responded to the 6500 block of Richard in Orange, but was advised that the suspects had left the area as he was en-route.

Officer McDonald was traveling to the call in the Pinehurst area, when he observed a van matching the description of the suspect’s driving in the opposite direction of him.

Officer McDonald stopped the van, and located the suspects inside.

Officer Roy made contact with the victim who said she was assaulted with a small bat by the suspects and had her purse stolen. The bat and the victim’s purse were located in the van with the suspects.

Arrested on aggravated robbery charges were Larry Paul Thompson, 50, of Pinehurst; Jennine Wood Thompson, 54 of Pinehurst, and Colleen Paige Simmons, 30, of Redrock, TX.

All three suspects were transported to the Orange County Jail, and released to jail staff.
