Delbert W. Cotton, 87, of Vidor, died Sunday, March 4, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Orange, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor, and was a retired welder after 32 years with Gulf Oil. He worked for 8 years at McDougle Shoes, selling children's corrective shoes. Delbert served his country in the United States Army in the pacific campaign during WW II. He was a BAR infantry rifleman, and a member of the 182nd Infantry (Americal) Division. Delbert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Delbert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Rector Cotton; son, Gene Cotton and wife, Mary; daughter, Shelia Cotton Womack, all of Vidor; four grandchildren: Kennon Cotton of Georgetown, TX., Keegan Cotton of Budapest, Hungary, Blake Womack and Jeremy Womack, both of Vidor; and five great grandchildren: Adelynne Cotton, Belian Cotton, Coralee Cotton, Lincoln Cotton, and Lauramae Kate Cotton.
