Jimmie C. Cook, 65, of Dayton was born July 21, 1946 in Lufkin and passed away Monday, April 9, in a Houston hospital.

He was a U. S. Air Force Viet Nam veteran, where he served as a weather technician and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was an officer with the Orange County Sheriffs Department from 1973 until joining the Baytown Police Department in 1976, where he retired with 30 years of service with the rank of Captain. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Noreen Cook and granddaughter, Caydance Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger Cook of Dayton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Chris II and Vanessa Cook of Kingwood and Timothy D. and Cyndi Cook of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy Lynn Cook of Orange, Michelle Renee and Darren Iceton of Spring, and Rebecca Diane and Michael Nations of League City; stepson, James H. Franklin of Quitman; stepdaughter, Suzie Craig of Venus.

Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael J. and Peggy Cook of Sugarland, Patrick A. and Patty Cook of Orange, Tony and Sophia Cook of Alvarado, and Stephen and Susan Cook of Orange; and grandchildren, Marissa, Justin, Hannah, Keegan, Mikayla, Alexis, and due in June, Ryker.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Blackburn officiating.

Graveside services with military and police honors will be Monday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Chris Cook II, Timothy D. Cook, Darren Iceton, Michael Nations, Justin Cook, and Brett Leatherwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Keegan Iceton, Richard Reff, and active and retired Baytown Police Department officers.
