An Orange man was arrested Friday morning in the Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital parking lot for burglarizing a vehicle.

A witness observed the man, who was identified as Michael Edward Cryer, 47, of Orange, walking through the hospital parking lot pulling on the door handles of parked vehicles.

Officer Michael Roush with the Orange Police Dept. met Pinehurst officer Dempsey to assist with the call after the witness called police to report the incident. The witness pointed out the location of Cryer in the parking lot, and he was observed to be leaning into a door of a parked vehicle.

When police made contact with Cryer, he had two watches and a bracelet in his possession. Police made contact with the owner of the vehicle Cryer was leaning in to. The vehicle owner advised police that he didn’t know Cryer. He also told police that Cryer didn’t have permission to be in his vehicle. Or to remove any belongings from the vehicle.

The watches and bracelet that Cryer had on his person were identified to belong to the victim’s parents.

Cryer was placed into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was released to jail staff.
