Larry Lee Rudder, 72, of Sour Lake, died Monday, April 23. He was born February 15, 1940, in Qulin, Missouri, to Lennie Catherine Hall Rudder and Lester F. Rudder, and had been a resident of the Sour Lake area since 1992.

Larry was a proud retired United States Air Forcelink veteran, who lived life to the fullest for himself, his wife, family, friends, and the Lord.

He was never happier than when he was riding his Harley, gardening, loving his dogs, or singing in the church choir.

Larry served in the United States Air Force for twenty-six years, including five overseas tours, followed by careers with Shell Oil Company and American Express.

His life was nothing short of an adventure, and most importantly, love for wife, family, and friends.

Larry's wisdom, knowledge, and kind smile had a positive impact on all he met.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sue Rudder of Sour Lake; son, Steven Rudder and his wife, Cindy of Katy; daughter, Susan Weatherly of Beaumont; grandchildren, Chris Rudder and his wife, Tami and Sean Rudder, all of Katy, Catherine Shute and her husband, Bobby of Orange, Allison Weatherly of Beaumont, Robert Rudder of Vance Air Force Base, Enid, OK, and Lee Rudder of Katy; great-grandchildren, Aubrea, Hannah, and Maci Rudder, all of Katy, and Bailey Shute of Orange; brothers, Charley H. Rudder and his wife, Kayoka of San Ysidro, CA, Lester Rudder and his wife, Veola of the Philippines; and sisters, Ann Terry of Lone Star, and Mary Catherine Sapp and her husband, Tim of Dallas.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, at First Baptist Church, 765 6th Street, Sour Lake. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake, with Military Honors by United States Air Force, under the direction of Broussard's.
