County to consider fishing tournament

The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted their own fishing tournament, now Orange County may one day be hosting their own fishing tournament.

The Orange County Commissioners' Court will consider dedicating $60,000 to the Orange County Economic Development Corporation out of the next cycle of the Hotel-Motel Tax funds to attract a national fishing tournament organization to the county.

The commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29 in the commissioners' courtroom of the Orange County Administration Building, 123 South Sixth Street in Orange.

Angela Goodwin with LINC Energy will address the court regarding an oil well located on Bessie Heights Road in Orange County. The commissioners will also consider approving an application from Cimarex Energy Company for a permit to conduct limited geophysical operations in the county.

Jeff Kelley, emergency management coordinator, will brief the court on emergency management projects.

Lastly, personnel, social services, purchasing and parks will give their departmental reports to the commissioners.
