John A. Cutaia, 83, of Port Neches, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tuesday, June 26. He was born on Sept. 10, 1928 to Sam and Lena Cutaia in Port Arthur.

John attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Lamar College. John proudly served his country in WWII and Korea. John was owner of Sabine Refrigeration, which he started in 1951. He had 44 years in the business before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Cutaia; mother, Lena Mondello Cutaia Gallerano; sisters, Mary Thibodeaux, Rosie Palermo, Vivian Trosclair; brothers, Louis Cutaia, Sam Cutaia, Frank Cutaia, Ben Cutaia, and Joe Cutaia.

He is survived by his wife, Margie L. Cutaia of Port Neches; sons, Steven and wife Sylvia Cutaia of Nederland, John D. Cutaia of Greenwood Village, CO, Ronny Peveto of Port Neches; daughters, Janis Cutaia of Texas City, Diana Cutaia of League City, Patti and husband Tommy Martin of Orange, Johnna Blount of Port Neches, Andelene and husband Kurt Rodrigue of Orange; brothers, Anthony and wife Glinda Cutaia of The Woodlands, Jimmy and wife Diane Cutaia of Magnolia; sisters, Katherine Norris of Spring, Betty Cutaia of Houston.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Dana and husband Matt Robinson, Brandon Savoie, Terra Cutaia, Scott and wife Erika Peveto, Shane Peveto, Slayde Martin, Maci Rodrigue, Taylor Blount, Paige Blount, Dalton Peveto, Blaine Peveto; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Robinson and Brett Peveto.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A wake service will be Thursday at 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 29, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, with Msgr. Bennie Patillo officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bridge City.
