Two police officers working a security detail at a private party called for assistance when a large fight broke out at the party. Officers Bernard and Foreman were working a private party at the American Legion when a crowd of 300-350 young males and females caused a large disturbance in the parking lot.

Officers on the scene said that when the party ended just after midnight, and the lights came on inside the American Legion, fights began inside and spilled into the parking lot.

Several fights were breaking out throughout the area and in an attempt to stop the fights, and disperse the large, aggressive crowd, police used pepper spray. The spray caused several of those involved to hurry from the area. Those persons were never identified.

Officers from Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Pinehurst PD, and West Orange PD assisted with the call.
