Lamar University students will "Remember the Cards, Remember the Cause!" at Homecoming 2012 with a fun week of activities dedicated to the spirit of Lamar University.

Festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8 with a ceremonial cake cutting in the Setzer Student Center and announcement of the candidates for Homecoming royalty. Other scheduled events include a student dodge ball tournament, the annual Greeks vs. Faculty basketball game and a campus clean-up event honoring the legacy of LU’s alumni.

The week of pre-game celebration culminates at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the pep rally and bonfire, located at University Drive and Jim Gilligan Way. The pep rally will feature performances by the LU cheerleaders and dance team and an appearance by the LU mascot, Big Red.

On game day, Saturday, Oct. 13, students will show their support for the Cardinal football team during the “Walk of Champions.” Starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Dining Hall, President Jimmy Simmons and Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames will join students to cheer on the football team as they make their way across campus to Provost Umphrey Stadium. The LU community is invited to join in the parade across the Lamar campus. Kickoff for the Homecoming game against McMurry is at 7:00 p.m.
