Four to received Rogers Community Service Award

The Lamar University Foundation Inc. will host a program and reception Thursday, Nov. 8 to honor the four recipients of the 2012 Julie and Ben Rogers Community Service Award.

Regina Rogers, representing the Rogers family, will present the awards during a program

in the University Reception Center on the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library at Lamar University in Beaumont. The program will begin at 3 p.m., preceding a reception.

Rogers will present the awards to:

* Kevin Doss, program director, instructor of communications, Lamar State College-Orange.

* Sara Gubala, instructor of political science, Lamar University. Gubala will share the award with her therapy dog, Kennedy, who will be at the ceremony.

* Lizzette Rivera-de la Rosa, professor of office technology administration, Lamar Institute of Technology.

* Mary Wickland, director of accounting, Lamar State College-Port Arthur.

Presidents of the four institutions will profile the recipients and the contributions that led to their selection for the prestigious honor.

The Rogers family established the award in 1979 to encourage Lamar faculty and staff members to volunteer their services and talents to benefit the community. The Lamar University Foundation maintains an endowment that provides for the award.
