Hazel Dove, 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on Nov. 21, 1922, in Mississippi, to Bessie Blackmon Houston and Robert Houston, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Hazel and her husband were foster parents for over two hundred children.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis Bill Dove and his wife, Jo, of Broaddus and Ray Dove and his wife, Pennie, of Los Angeles, Ca; daughters, Virginia Saleme and her husband, Nick, of Beaumont; Sheila Reed and her husband, Eric, of Bridge City; and Rhonda Duplaintis of Nederland; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous great- great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Crain of Graceland, La and Evelyn Hickingbottom, of Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Willie Aaron Dove; three brothers; and four sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Dove's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. An additional gathering of her family and friends will begin at 8:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Nedville Missionary Baptist Church, 186 FM 1747, Jasper, with interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Jasper.
