West-Orange Stark School Bus struck by 18-Wheeler

At approximately 10 a.m., an 18-wheeler collided with a West-Orange Stark school bus on State Highway 87.

The West-Orange school bus was traveling southbound on Highway 87 when an 18-wheeler turned from FM 1006 onto Highway 87. The driver of the truck tractor made an unsafe lane change striking the school bus. At the time of the crash, there were 30 students on the bus. The students and the bus driver did not sustain any injuries and were transferred onto another school bus to return to school.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, 44 year old Troy Chavis of Missouri City, Texas was uninjured; however, Chavis will be cited for unsafe lane change.

Orange County Troopers are still on the scene of the crash and continue to investigate this incident.
