Patsy Jean Simmons

Patsy Jean Simmons, 76 of Buna, died Nov. 15, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

She was born Feb. 11, 1937 in Pine Grove, and had lived in Buna since the 1990's. She was a 1955 graduate of Newton High School and was a fromer resident of Bridge City. After proudly raising their three sons, Patsy worked for Dr. James B. Jones of Orange for 23 years. Patsy then retired to live in Buna, where she enjoyed life in the country with the love of her life, Arthur and a number of four legged pets over the years-Patty Cakes, Jingle Bells, Jack and Debbie, Hobo, Jake and Sugar. Patsy enjoyed having her grandchildren spend summers at Camp Buna where the Dr. Pepper flowed freely, showers were optional and various games were the main event of the day.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Arthur; three sons, Art Simmons and wife, Amy of League City, Richard Simmons and wife, Elizabeth of Winnie, and Paul Simmons and wife, Eunice of Waco; sister Mabel Richter of Opelousas, La., 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Irene Herrin, brother R. C. Herrin Jr. and grand daughter, Tracie Broussard.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Newto,n with burial to follow at Bleakwood Cemetery.
