LCM student council earns sweepstakes

Last updated 3/4/2014 at Noon

For more consecutive years than the current members have been in school, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Student Council has brought home a Sweepstakes Award from the Texas Association of Student Councils District 17 Spring Convention.

They have accomplished this for 14 years straight by achieving State recognition in all five organizational project areas. Also at the Convention, the LCM HS representatives conducted 10 different table talk sessions, sharing their knowledge and expertise with the other 1,000 or so students in attendance. Senior Bailey Newton was presented a scholarship by District 17 for her Student Council work over the past four years at LCM HS.

Next up for Student Council will be the annual conference in Arlington, from April 12 through 15. Twenty-four LCM HS members will make the trip with other District 17 delegates. While in Arlington, LCM will serve on the Credentials Committee that oversees the State Officer Schools’ election process.
