Two Orange men were arrested Thursday after police conducted a traffic stop in the area of the Orangefield High School.

At about 11:14 am, Orange Police stopped the truck that Scott Shaunesey, 31, and Christopher Briggs, 29, were riding in, on a traffic violation. As detectives approached the vehicle, a synthetic marijuana cigarette was observed in plain view on the console of the truck. Detectives searched the vehicle and found approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of Ecstasy, and numerous alprazolam tablets.

Both Shaunesey and Briggs were arrested for possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, a felony, and were transported to the Orange County Jail.

Once at the jail, it was discovered that Briggs had two felony indictments for tampering with a government document, and one felony indictment for unauthorized use of a vehicle. The warrants had a bond of $25,000 each, totaling $75,000. There has been no bond set for the new charges for Shaunesey or Briggs. Both remain in custody at the Orange County Jail.
