Evan Maurice Villadsen, a resident of Orange, passed away Monday, March 17, at the University of Texas Medical Branch, in Galveston. He had been struck by a vehicle in Orange on Sunday while riding his scooter near his home.

Evan was born just seven years ago, on September 2, 2006 in Orange, the second of three children of Ryan and Nikki Villadsen. He was one of more than 80 descendants of Joann Delta Richard Villadsen, his great-grandmother, who died in 2012. Evan was a direct descendant of Amand Richard and his wife Marie Breaux who settled in St-Gabriel d’Iberville, Louisiana in 1767.

Evan attended first grade at the West Orange Elementary School in Pinehurst. He was a special needs student who loved music, something he inherited from his dad. He also spent lots of time taking photographs and videos, leaving a wonderful legacy for his family. He was a happy child, happy all the time, and always wanting to help others. He continued to help many others even after his death through the donation of his organs to others desperately in need of transplants.

The family wants to send special thanks to the staff at UTMB in Houston for their fabulous attention and support in the most difficult of times. They deserve prayers and gratitude for what they do so wonderfully for others.

Evan was preceded in death by his grandfather Maurice Villadsen; his great grandparents Reno Skov (Buddy) Villadsen and Joann Richard Villadsen, and by his maternal great grandfather James L. Wyatt.

He is survived by his parents, Ryan and Nikki Villadsen of Orange; his 10 year old brother Drake, and three year old brother Nicolas; his dad’s mother Molly Turvil, and her mother Paula Veazay Wyatt; and, of course, dozens and dozens of uncles, aunts, and cousins throughout Southeast Texas.

A memorial service will be held Friday March 21, at 1:30 pm at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange.

Family, friends, classmates and all who cared for Evan are welcome to join the family in celebrating his life.
