Funeral services for Orville “O.V.” Porche, 58, of Fairmount, will be at 2:00 pm., Monday, March 24, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will be from 11:00 am, Monday, until service time.

O.V. died March 21 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

A native of New Orleans, and a long time resident of Deweyville, he was an anchor tower operator and welder offshore for Cal-Dive International in Port Arthur. He liked fishing., wood working, fixing things and boiling seafood.

Survivors include his wife, Lorinda Powell “Cooky” Porche; mother in law, Allie DuBose Hathaway, both of Fairmount; two brothers, Claude Joseph “Smoke” Porche, Jr., of New Orleans, and Jess Porche and wife, Donnia, of Houma, La .; two sisters in law, Gail Powell Addison, and husband Keith, of Orange, and Sandy Hathaway of Fort Worth; 10 nieces and nephews, Corey Porche, Clint Porche, Shauntelle Porche, Lil Jess Porche, Sherry Porche, April Hughes Wilson, Ronnie Hughes, Misty Powel Brewster, Scotty Powell and Dane South, and numerous great nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by his parents, Claude, Sr. and Lois Porche; father in law, I.D. Powell, and niece, Tonya Porche.

Memorials may be made to the Jasper Humane Society, P.O. Box 1104, Jasper, Tx., 75951.

Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
