Hank Cecil Shores, born Sept. 1,1949 in Orange, passed away peacefully in Alamosa, Co., on Sept. 17.

Hank was a 1967 graduate of Orangefield High School, attended Lamar University and the University of Texas at Austin. Shortly after graduating he enlisted in the Armed Forces and was a sailor in the United States Navy.

Hank led an eventful, colorful and unconventional life. He appeared three times on the Jay Leno show, had a live phone interview with David Letterman on his show and was a “roadie” for Aerosmith. Hank was an entertainer and the size of the audience never mattered. He considered himself quite the comedian, songwriter and singer. Hank was a member of Pipefitter’s Local 195 and also worked many years in sales. He truly was one of a kind.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Carron and Fred Shores.

He is survived by his daughter, Cori Norwood, and husband, Brent, of Orange; sons, Clark Shores, and wife, Ingrid, of Groves and Derek Shores of Austin; one brother, Freddy Shores, and wife, Mary; two sisters, Cheryl Wilfer, and husband, Lawrence, and Peggy Shores Michael; six grandchildren, Bayleigh Shelton Chesson, Korri Norwood Ayers, Gavin and Christian Norwood, Carson and Alexandra Shores.

Hank was baptized into Christ as a young teenager and later served the Lord as a member of the McLewis Church Of Christ. While he struggled with life’s temptations, he never denied Jesus as Lord.

Services will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, at 4:00 pm, at the McLewis Church of Christ, in Orange.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Church of Christ India , in care of McLewis Church of Christ, 7834 Guillory Rd. Orange, TX 77632.
