The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect until 6:00 pm today. Winds will be 25 MPH and gusty. Precautionary and preparedness actions should be taken.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 20-34 MPH are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Winds on local waterways could be 5 MPH higher than over land. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

Also, a traveling Great Plains cold front will enter Southeast Texas by mid-afternoon today, before exiting South Louisiana by mid-evening tonight.

Numerous pre-frontal showers and thunderstorms are expected, with some having the potential to be severe. These storms may carry strong damaging winds and isolated tornadoes being the primary threat. Localized flooding is also possible in the stronger showers.
