Odgen Demes Lanthier, 68, passed away at his home Nov. 1. Demes was born Oct. 15, 1946, to George Lanthier and Madeline Dora Lanthier in Eunice, La.

Demes was always outside or in the yard working on a lawn mower, car, boat, or tinkering with one project or another. He adored his grand and great grandkids as he was a wonderful Paw Paw. Demes loved road trips. He would pile everyone in the car to go to Branson, San Antonio, the Grand Canyon, Hot Springs, New Orleans, or on camping trips. The zoo was a favorite outing that always included a train ride and picnic. If something broke, he could fix it. He was always there to help celebrate each special occasion any family member had.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tina Sonnier and husband, Jeff, of Vidor, Sharon Gonzales of Orange, Sabrena Verrett and husband, John, of Buna, and Dana Stewart and husband, Grant, of Orange; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Gail Lanthier of Orange and Kim Clark of San Angelo; and brother, Bradford Lanthier and wife, Donna, of Bridge City.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Norma Lanthier; parents; son, George Price Lanthier; sister, Gloria Patterson; and brother, Ray Lanthier.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, with his life honoring service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Orange.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Sonnier, Grant Stewart, John Verrett, Curtis Collins, Christopher Huffman, and Dusty Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Linscomb, Cade Watson, and Noah Watson.
