The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting a hard freeze for east Texas and central Louisiana, extending as far south as the north side of the I-10 corridor. Freezing temperatures will extend to the coast.

A second night of freezing temperatures is expected Friday night/Saturday morning, before rain starts to move in. Saturday night rain will start in southeast Texas, and extend across our entire region on Sunday, before tapering off early Monday. There is a small risk for strong to severe thunderstorms in south central Louisiana during the day on Sunday.

Colder than normal temperatures continue next week, with freezing temperatures expected again on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

No tropical cyclone activity is expected in the next week over the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, or Atlantic Ocean.
