The home of Deana and Harry Wood, at the corner of 5th St. and Orange Ave. was selected by the Keep Orange County Beautiful Committee to receive the Quarterly Residential Beautification Award.

The home, previously owned by Mrs. Nelda Stark, was selected because the owners are so diligent in keeping up the landscaping and the home in general.

Lovely trees and plants provide a rich setting for this historic house.

At present it is decorated beautifully for the holidays with holiday pillows on the white wicker furniture on the front porch.

The owner says it is a tradition that her granddaughter decorates the wrought-iron fence with garland and red bows for Christmas.

Another noticeable feature of the home is the flickering candles that are always seen in the windows.

The owner chose to purchase this house because of its “homey” atmosphere, much like the home in which she was raised.

This award is given quarterly to homes and businesses in Orange County for taking pride in their community by making it a more beautiful place to live.
