An open letter to the citizens of Orange County from WO-S Interim Superintendent, Sylvia E. Martinez:

Dear Citizens,

West Orange-Cove CISD expresses out gratitude for the overwhelming support that the entire community has shown during the West Orange-Stark High School journey to the State Championship football game. The fan support exhibited by individuals, businesses, industry and alumni (near and far) was unbelievable. Thank you to all who sent well wishes, attended rallies, "Send offs," and games. Your commitment by supporting live broadcasts, sharing greetings/photos on social media, purchasing advertisements and wearing Mustang blue captured the "12th 'Stang" spirit. This experience will truly be a life-long memory that we will never forget.

Additionally, we want to thank and acknowledge the community efforts of those who have embraced our team through various celebrations including the City of Orange, the Orange Rotary Club, area churches and neighboring school districts. We would also like to recognize the support of the WO-S Alumni Foundation, WOCCISD Education Foundation and all who have contributed in any form to these church, organization or civic recognitions.

The WO-S High School Mustang football team had an amazing season. It is through hard work, determination and an unwillingness to accept defeat that our team advanced that our team advanced so far. Our goal, every year, is to end the year as state champions. While we did not achieve the title we sought, we are stronger for the experience and very grateful that this community and our alumni have been by our side every step of the way. We value your uplifting words and dedicated support.

With Sincere Appreciation,

Sylvia E. Martinez, Ed. D

Interim Superintendent

West Orange-Cove CISD
