Two out of three incumbents on the West Orange City Council will not run for reelection for the May 9, 2015 General Election.

The council approved a resolution ordering the General Election at their regular meeting on February 9.

Both at-Large councilmen Mike Trahan and Charles Winter said they will not run again while Mayor Roy McDonald said he will give it another go around.

Trahan said he fulfilled a term five years ago for a councilwoman who moved away. He wanted to see how city government worked and said he's very satisfied the way West Orange is ran. He added he appreciates serving on the council.

Winter said he is not running again.

McDonald has filed for the election and said he will do as he has done in the past to make every effort to improve the city at the least cost to the taxpayers.

McDonald has been mayor for more than 20 years.

Also approved was to hold a join election with West Orange-Stark CISD. City hall will serve as the polling place.

The submission of a $275,000 Community Development Block Grant to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Orange County Water Control and Improvement District #2 to replace deteriorating water lines was approved.

McDonald said several lines need replacing on Longhorn St., Mustang St., Buffalo St., Alamo St., Bonham St. and and section of Irving St.

The city is applying on behalf of the OCWCID#2 which is committing $55,000 of district funds as a cash contribution toward the construction, engineering and grant administration of the project.
