James Allen “Sarge” Sargent II, 63, of Orange, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loved ones in his home Sunday, March 22.

A memorial gathering will be Sunday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Orange Boat Club.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and a friend to so many. James was a member of the Union 2484 Millwright Local for over 40 years, where he began his career. He spent the last 15 years working for International Paper in Orange. He was an avid and valued member of the Orange Boat Club for over 20 years. “Sarge” lived for his family, friends, and fishing, Sunday he began the greatest fishing trip of all and will only be “Gone Fishing”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Allen Sargent I and Margery McMillan Sargent; sister, Carla Sue Frazier and his daughter, Heather Marie Sizemore.

James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christine Sargent of Orange; sons, James “Little Sarge” Sargent of Devil’s Pocket, Lonnie Lonidier and his wife, Brandy, Heath Lonidier and his wife, Adrian and brother, Bill Sargent and his wife, Nancy, all of Orange; sisters, Donna Daniel of Roanoke, Louisiana, Sheri Ducker and her husband, Jerry of Ozark, Missouri, Joanie Becker and her husband, Randy of West Orange.

He was a “Paw Paw” to his pride and joys that others knew to be his grandchildren, Jacob Sizemore, Bailey Sargent, Jordan Daigle, Lane Freeman, Cannan Benoit, Hunter Gotreaux, Gracie Gotreaux, Kallie Gilcrest, Bre Gilcrest, Marissa Gilcrest, and Tara Richey.

His great-grandchildren are Brylee Fontenot, Ross Rivers, Ethan Rivers, and Madden Benoit.
