Some 40,000 Entergy Texas, Inc. customers were without power at 8 a.m.

today, the peak of outages after a strong line of thunderstorms moved through Southeast Texas during the early morning hours.

Areas hardest hit include communities in and around Huntsville, Navasota, Conroe, Silsbee and Cleveland.

Beaumont and Orange were less hard hit but still sustained multiple outages.

Many of the outages were caused by very high winds that toppled trees and blew branches into power lines.

Entergy’s own crews as well as contractors are already working to restore power and company officials have requested additional assistance from other areas including scouts to assess damage, vegetation crews and utility line crews.

Restoration is expected to be complete in hardest hit areas by noon Wednesday.

Customers are advised to stay away from downed power lines.

A news release with details regarding additional workers and restoration information will be distributed later today.

The number of outages by county can be located under the summary tab in View Outages , available on the Entergy Texas website.
