Burke named Salutatorian for OHS

Kaitlyn Burke is the Salutatorian for the 2015 graduating class from Orangefield high School. She is the daughter of Dr. Doak and Brenda Burke.

Burke is ranked second in her class of 136, with a 4.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Her clubs and organizations include the National Honor Society; Interact; Student Council; FCCLA; Class Officer; Bible Quiz; Ready, Set, Teach for two years.

Awards and honors are: All A Honor Roll (throughout high school); various Big O awards; second place in declamation in the Stark Reading contest, twice; placed in several UIL competitions for computer applications and extemporaneous speaking; Bible Quiz participant for 11 years and was named Quizzer of the Year for the state of Texas 2 years and third in the nation.

Volunteer Activities: teach first and second grade Sunday School at church; volunteer at the HEB Feast of Sharing; sent supplies overseas to our armed forces and participated in the canned food drive at Thanksgiving.


Her future plans include attending Lamar University and Baylor University to obtain a degree in bio-medical engineering
