Melvin Hammock

Melvin M. Hammock, 89, of Orange, passed away June 17, at Pasadena Care Center in Pasadena.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Gary Wheeler of First United Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the service begins, Saturday, at the church.

Born in Mauriceville, on July 20, 1926, he was the son of Orran Wood Hammock and Una Mae Forque Hammock. Melvin served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2775 and a very active member of First United Pentecostal Church in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, R. Bruce Hammock, Kenneth W. Brem and Glenn M. Brem; brothers, Ernest Hammock, Roy Hammock, Forest Hammock and Donald Hammock and his step-father, L.H. Preston.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Maxine Hammock; children, Daniel W. Hammock and wife, Tanya of Deer Park, Melvin W. Hammock and wife Janie of Bixby, Ok., Larry V. Hammock of Deer Park, Denis R. Hammock and wife, Kathy of Friendswood and Trisha R. Vandagriff and husband, Andrew of Orange; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and his brother, the Rev. Dalton L. Hammock and wife, Adeline of LaGrange, Ga. and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Pentecostal Church in Orange at 3406 Edgar Brown Dr. Orange, Texas 77630.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Pasadena Care Center for their wonderful care of Melvin during his stay.
