Weather Update - high heat indices expected, take precautionary measures

Last updated 7/10/2015 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting small chances for showers and thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, before drier weather comes in the start of next week. Maximum afternoon heat indices next week will be in the 100 to 107 F range, so precaution needs to be taken to minimize the threat of the heat. Drink plenty of water and stay indoors during the peak heat time of the day.

The tropics will be quiet for the next week in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean.
