Troopers identify victim of auto-pedestrian accident

Texas State Troopers have released the name of a man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident that happened at approximately 12:40 am, Friday evening on Interstate 10. Troopers believe that a man had either fallen or was lying in the roadway near mile marker 877 when he was run over and killed by an unidentified vehicle.

The victim was identified as 41 year old Chad Eugene Shields of Orange. Shields was pronounced dead at the crash scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

This is an ongoing investigation and troopers are asking for the public's help to locate the vehicle that ran over and killed Shields. If you were traveling in the area of mile marker 877 around 12:40 am, Friday, Oct. 9, please call the DPS office at 936-699-7340. The telephone is answered 24 hours a day and messages should be left for Trooper Philip Brady.
