CCS students lend a hand to flooded citizens of Southeast Texas

Community Christian School students teamed up with Samaritan's Purse to lend a hand to those in need in Southeast Texas following recent flooding. Students presented new Bibles to flood victims and prayed with the home owners.

Every year Community Christian School takes one week out of the school year to do community service around the Golden Triangle. CCS’s junior high volunteered at the Salvation Army, Stable Spirit, the Sharing Station and the Little White Crosses.

This year the high school students teamed up with Samaritan’s Purse to help the flood victims of Deweyville and surrounding areas clean out their homes, tear out walls and floors, sprayed and disinfected the house studs, visited with the homeowners and countless other tasks.

The most touching part of the week working with the flood victims was being a part of Samaritan’s Purse ministry of giving disaster victims a brand new Bible.

Everyone who participated in working on the home signed the Bible, and prayed with the home owners.

The work took the students and teachers out of their comfort zone, but was completely rewarding and eye opening.

There are still many flood victims displaced who are living outside in tents, or open sheds, or are staying with friends and family.

Samaritan’s Purse is still in need of volunteers to help.

When Community Christian’s student volunteers leave Samaritan’s Purse, their work force will go from 80 to 20 workers.
