Jocelyn “Jo” Burns, 81, of Bridge City, passed away May 31, in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Miller. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at McInnis Cemetery in Anacoco, La.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Fisher, La, Sept. 13, 1934, she was the daughter of Andrew McInnis and LaNell (May) McInnis. Jo was a teacher at Hatton Elementary for thirty years. She was also a member of First Assembly of God in Groves. Jo loved quilting, reading and camping. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Neil Burns; parents and brother, Hoyt Chance.

She is survived by her children, Michael Howard Burns, Sr. and wife, Reyna, of Port Neches, Mark N. Burns and wife, Ann, of League City and Marie Burns, of Bridge City; grandchildren, Michael Burns, Jr., Matthew Burns, Mindi Burns, Sunni Farren and husband, Josh; great-grandchild, Audrick Farren; brother, Jerry McInnis and wife, Sheila, of Bridge City; many cousins, nieces and nephews and her special friend, Jacob Monceaux.


Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Burns, Michael Burns, Jr., Jacob Monceaux, Bo McInnis, Jude Lemoine and Troy Kidder.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bridge City Library, 101 Parkside Dr., Bridge City, TX 77611.
