NWS expecting excessive heat, stormy weekend

The National Weather Service is expecting another round of excessive heat Friday and Saturday afternoons, with maximum heat indices in the 102 to 108 F range. People need to follow heat safety rules when outdoors.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday through Monday. Deadly lightning and gusty winds will be the primary hazards.

Temperatures next week will be near normal with highs in the lower 90s and lows in the 70s.

Along the coast, tides will continue to run a little above normal for the next week.
