Weather service expecting small chance of rain, high temps through weekend

Last updated 6/30/2016 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting just small chances of rain through the weekend, and a dry period next week. Temperatures will be above normal, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Maximum heat indices will reach the 103-109 degree range next week, which will likely mean heat advisories will be issued. Stay hydrated when outdoors, and try to keep outdoor activities at a minimum during the hottest part of the day.

In the tropics, it will be quiet in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Atlantic, but a system is likely to develop in the eastern Pacific Ocean. It will not cause any weather impacts to our region.
